Only a few would recognise the name Eunice Wambui, but mention Nyasuguta and all of a sudden everybody goes ‘Oooh’.
The popular actress who made her name thanks to the show Vitimbi which aired for ages on KBC, is back in the headlines. But this time around, it’s not on the Entertainment sections of blogs but rather Politics.
Nyasuguta has kept a low profile ever since she caused a stir when she joined the likes of socialite Vera Sidika who decided to crossover from darkskin to lightsin or kutoa tint [untinting]. Yes she used skin lighteners to bleach her skin.
It is however emerging that Nyasuguta has been a busy girl campaigning as she has joined the murky waters of politics. She has entered the Embakasi South parliamentary race in the 2017 General Election.
The seat seems to be a favourite for many as others who want to unseat the incumbent Mohammed Sumra include Deputy Speaker Nairobi County assembly Ken Ng’ondi, Tassia MCA Michael Ogada and more. You can now add the name Eunice Wambui aka Nyasuguta to that list.
Wambui joins a lengthening list of women who have joined politics and are eyeing different seats in the forthcoming poll around the country. They include; moneyed businesswoman Millicent Omanga who is vying for Nairobi Women Representative, Esther Passaris wants who wishes to unseat Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru for Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat, Njeri Thorne for Lang’ata parliamentary seat just to mention a few.
Nyasuguta’s poster has been shared numerous times on social media with many vowing to vote for her. What I’m doubting is whether those saying they will vote for her come from the constituency she is eyeing or it is just talk.
Below is the poster:
