I you haven’t noticed, we’re in 2017 and yesterevening, Kenyans joined other earthlings during celebrations to welcome 2017.
Many converged in churches and entertainment joints to pray or party (depending) their way into the new year.
Not sure where you were but Deputy President William Ruto, his wife Rachel as well as other leaders and thousands of wananchi gathered at the Eldoret Sports Club in Uasin Gichu county to witness the arrival of the new year.
Ruto was the centre of attraction as he danced the night away. And please if you have any clues on the then whereabouts of his boss Uhuru Kenyatta, tell him to drop a line ASAP – I missed the traditional midnight Head of State address to the nation.
Back to Ruto. After the DP who was in the company of a barracks of bodyguards arrived at the venue, a moment of prayer was observed before Uhuru’s number two grabbed the mic. He was also in the company of his young daughters and younger son – Nick Ruto was missing in action.
Ruto charmed the crowd when he paraded Rachel jnrs for all the men to see. “Here they are. I have plenty of them. The ball is now in your court,” he joked.
Adding: “As we usher in 2017, we must remind ourselves that God has given us a great country. It is our responsibility to ensure that we preach peaceful co-existence and unity among Kenyans.”
