There’s a clip doing the rounds on social media allegedly of Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale inciting his electorate to get rid of a specific tribe from the area.
In the audio that has since gone viral, Duale who is also House Majority Leader is heard calling for the mobilisation of youth to get rid of Kambas because they are outsiders and cannot be allowed to cast their votes in the county.
“Kambas, start with them today. You are residents. Tell them to build their houses but they should not dare bring their Wiper politics here,” Duale, a staunch Jubilee government defendant is heard saying.
Adding: “Warn them that they will not cross the Tana bridge into Garissa on voting day. We will be waiting for them. 15 to 16 voter registration starts. I want you to mobilize youth to every polling station. I will not allow any matatu ferrying people you don’t know to register as voters.”
But he was not done. “We own this town, not outsiders. Mobilize five to six youth to every polling station day and night. I will pay for their needs and protect them,” he said.
Duale also says in the recording that he has warned the area chief against allowing matatus ferrying members of the Kamba community from entering Garissa. He said that the administrative heads will be backed by law enforcement authority to chase the intruders away as per his instructions.
“We will have a sit down with the county commander na watu wa CID wajuane (they can know each other). You should stand strong and fearless at all wards and if you are arrested for violence, you will be released. I will pay your bills and other costs,” Duale allegedly says.
Garissa which is a frontier town is dominated by Kenyans of Somali origin.
It is believed the fiery politician’s radical measures have been informed by his political rival Farah Maalim’s recent decamping to Wiper Party from ODM.
Maalim is doing all that is possible to unseat Duale in the forthcoming General Election. He is said to have backing from the clan as well as members of the Kamba community who possess crucial swing votes.
Dulae has hit the headlines previously for his sharp tongue. He speaks boldly and doesn’t mince his words.
