Arrested for disturbing the peace

University of Nairobi student leader Babu Owino is in trouble again after he was arrested on Thursday, January 5, for causing disturbance at Kilimani police station.

The SONU chief was apprehended while seeking the immediate release of businessman Chris Okeyo Obure.

According to police, Babu who seems to be followed by trouble wherever he goes, stormed the station accompanied by a group of his supporters and demanded that Obure be set free.

“It was after they started to shout and abuse the officers on duty that he was arrested alongside five others,” a police officer was quoted saying.

It is reported Owino and his accomplices are currently being grilled before they are apprehended in court.

Obure was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) after he threatened to shoot a reveller at a popular restaurant in the city.

A licensed gun holder, 36-year-old Obure had been in hiding even as police sought him for allegedly assaulting and misusing his gun at a club in Kilimani area.

He is accused of beating and injuring Ben Alila and his cousin on New Year’s Eve and threatening to pump bullets into them.
