Former MP dies, he was watching Senate debate

Residents of Mwala constituency have been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of former area MP Peter Mutua Kavisi.

The second wife of the ex legislator said he passed away on Friday night, January 6.

According to her, Kavisi was watching the grueling Senate debate on the controversial amendments to the electoral law, when he suddenly suffered a stroke.

It is reported that former MP had earlier been diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure.

Kavisi was rushed to Shalom Community Hospital in Machakos but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

His body is being preserved at Montezuma Funeral Home in Machakos.

The Kanu politician served as Mwala Member from 1992 to 1997. Before joining politics, Kavisi was the executive secretary of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT).

He has left behind three wives and six children.
