Just a few days after the State withdrew security detail attached to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi, another politician from the Coast has also been hit.

Last week on Friday, 6, the news was awash with stories that Joho’s and Kingi’s bodyguards had been withdrawn soon after the two politicians openly criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta for neglecting the Coast region, during the latter’s recent visit to Mombasa.

The government however came to defend itself on the matter saying the move was not political,  but the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party where Joho is a senior member, read malice in the whole thing.

Statehouse Spokesman Manoah Esipisu termed the withdrawal of the security detail as a normal security reorganisation in the region.

But even before the dust settles, another politician from the region has suffered the same fate.

Kilifi County Assembly Speaker Jimmy Kahindi says his bodyguard was withdrawn and recalled to the Malindi Police station.

Kahindi said on Monday, January 9, that the cop was withdrawn without any explanations and asked to surrender his hand gun at the same station.
