They say everything that has a beginning has an end, but even with that in mind, there’s nothing more painful than losing a loved one to the grips of death.
Generations after generations, human beings still try to unravel what death is, why it was created in the first place. The passing of a loved one still remains the most painful thing in the world any person can endure. Everybody without a single exception.
Losing a loved one is no doubt the worst of heart-wrenching experiences, a harrowing period that no person deserves to go through.
Last year, one of Kenya’s biggest rappers – King Kaka aka Rabbit or Kaka Sungura, if you like, lost one of his beloved nephews, an experience that crushed the ‘Baadaye’ hitmaker.
And to honour the departed soul and may be come to some sort of closure, King Kaka has teamed up with the gifted RedFourth Chorus (they of the ‘Kuliko Jana’ fame with Sauti Sol) to release a new song called ‘Senzenina’.
‘Senzenina’ is Xhosa/Zulu for ‘What have we done?’.
My brief research shows me that the song is borrowed from a South African folk piece that is performed at burial ceremonies.
The rapper says ‘Senzenina’ is for all the loved ones who went to be with the Lord, and it seeks to speaking to them (the departed) questioning their love and why they left.
