It’s been a harrowing many years for one of Kenya’s biggest name in entertainment as he battles an ailment.
Big Kev, has for years fought a silent war with a disease that has seen him undergo 13 surgeries to remove recurring tumours in his brain. The last surgery was done late last year and left him completely incapacitated.
Not just that but the larger than life events guru lost his sight in what doctors said was optic atrophy, the drying up of optic nerves.
A determined Kev is however braving all that and he is working hard to regain his health back.
“One month ago I lost my sight, the doctor’s call it optic atrophy they say that the optic nerves dried up. As I fight to recover one thing is not lost on me I serve a God of the living, he is in the business of giving life, he is in the business of restoration, anytime you are backed up to a dead end you turn to him because that is where our hope lies,” Big Kev said on Facebook when he announced he had lost his sight.
He added: “Regardless of what we go through and the most difficult of situations especially where man’s ability ends it’s the Lord’s report we believe and in his ability we place our trust…”
On Friday, February 10, several celebrities came together to raise money towards Big Kev’s medical expenses. The charity dinner was held at Carnivore and several celebrities graced the event to give back to one of their own.
And letting him down they didn’t as they raised an encouraging 7 million shillings!
A funds drive is on to reach the targeted KShs 20M.
