Funny man Owago Onyiro is the latest victim of what is now becoming joke gone too far, a trend where rogue bloggers are “killing” local celebrities for cheap attention.
A Facebook post has been shared widely of the Churchill Show comedian allegedly having kicked the bucket, news that left his fans worried sick this past weekend.
The post which was shared on Group Kenya – a popular page on social platform was entitled “SAD: Kenya Wakes Up To Shocking News, Churchill Show Comedian Is DEAD.”
Unsurprisingly, the post caused quite a storm eliciting various reactions on social media. Those who fell for the fake news of the comic’s passing, took the earliest opportunity to sent their messages of condolence saying he was a great entertainer.
However, the post is miles away from the truth, it turns out Owago wose real name is Byron Otieno is alive and kicking. The comedian even uploaded a photo on his Gram a few hours ago of him and friends enjoying the weekend away.
Owago’s is the latest and he now joins a growing list of local celebs who have been killed by the faceless bloggers in the past few months.
In December, Mambo Mseto host Willy M. Tuva came out to rubbish claims by ‘keyboard assassins’ that he had died in the horrific accident that occurred along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway when a canter carrying flammables rammed into other cars before bursting into a ball of fire.
Recently, his colleague Uncle Fred Obachi Machoka was also ‘killed’ but the rumour later turned out to be a hoax!
