There’s a story going round of a looming resignation of popular Citizen TV news anchors, Janet Mbugua and Hussein Mohamed. Pause… It also emerging that media bigwig Jeff Koinange’s entry into the mix could be the reason.
The Hurlingham-based media house is burning up and apparently, Jeff Koinange’s trademark fire extinguisher is the oxygenator.
Internet pundits are saying Citizen TV news top anchors Hussein and Janet, whose chemistry has made them a darling to many, have already tendered their resignation letters but it remains unclear where the two TV top anchors are headed. Or if they’re leaving for real.
That Hussein and Janet resigned just days after the award-winning Koinange showed up at the station with his bench. The respected journalist is said to have edged out some of the employees from prime time news.
Unconfirmed reports claim Janet and Hussein had been given extra duties, something to do with the morning Citizen Extra news which is scheduled to run up to the end of the upcoming General Election scheduled for August 8.
Kenya Today reports that after getting dropped by KTN like a hot potato, Jeff secured a mega deal with the Royal Media Services, one that will see him pocket KSh 2 million a month, for two years straight.
So when RMS staff became aware of the leaked salary amount Jeff Koinange is making, they went bananas.. and for a good reason. They can’t understand why after working for years at the station, they’re still making peanuts and someone just shows up and gets a humongous salo. Just like that!
