Jeff Koinange on Janet, Hussein leaving Royal Media

Word has been doing round lately that Citizen TV top news anchors, Janet Mbugua and Hussein Mohamed, may be leaving Citizen TV.

The two, it was reported, were leaving after getting wind of Jeff Koinange’s humongous pay after he joined the station recently.

The award-winning journalist joined the Royal Media family after KTN pulled the plug on the hit talk show Jeff Koinange Live popularly known as JKL in October last year. The show now airs every Wednesday on the SK Macharia-owned station.

So it was reported that Jeff Koinange was the reason the top-rated Citizen TV anchors had tendered their resignations. That they couldn’t understand how newcomer Jeff is making KShs. 2million a month and will be for the next two years, while they’re making peanuts.

Koinange has however come out to set the record straight regarding the whole situation.

While speaking to a local outlet, the veteran journalist whose credentials include a stint with CNN, said anchors at Citizen TV are one happy family and the information being peddled around were just rumours.

He went on to add that Janet Mbugua and Hussein Mohamed are still very much with the station and are not leaving as reported.
