Gospel singer Willy Paul is the talk of town once again, he is back in the headlines after storming out of the Groove Awards nominations that went down at the Manu Chandaria Auditorium at the University of Nairobi on Tuesday, May 2.
Known for his may controversies, the artiste who is currently riding high with his latest release ‘I Do’, walked out of the event as soon as the list of nominees was announced. Just as it happened last year, his name was nowhere to be found.
But Willy Paul was not the only big artiste who was not nominated never mind having a current chart-topper, his nemesis Bahati and L-Jay Maasai’s names were also missing. The event organisers said that they were very keen on nominating the artistes and character was a key factor.
“This year, we have made bold steps. We have left people intentionally whose character does not represent christian values,” said pastor Patric Kuchio on behalf of Groove Awards.
It’s not a secret that the talented Willy Paul has been attracting controversies in everything he does and everywhere he goes.
Following the Tuesday drama, the ‘Fanya’ star has finally come out to say why he walked away from this year’s Groove Awards nomination event.
“Don’t expect them to appreciate your hard work: human beings should not be trusted. If you trust them:: you will only get hurt badly.. Get used to being alone.: let ur only option be Christ the king.. Don’t let the earth and the things in it define you.. You’re better than them all,” he said.
Willy Paul sentiments on Social media have attracted support and loathe in equal measure, and we have a compiled a few of them below.
