Popular radio presenter Nick Odhiambo quit Classic FM recently after a decade with Radio Africa Group, but his departure has brought forth a lot of confusion as fans continue to speculate where he could be headed.
Initially, word went round that the husky-voiced presenter was headed to Radio Maisha after parting ways with the station, perhaps as a replacement for comedian Jalang’o who quit the station’s popular morning show.
Well, personally I took that with a bag of salt, I mean, how can the English-speaking Nick host a Kiswahili morning show? Well, maybe creative content creators at the Standard Group-owned radio that has been growing in leaps and bounds, had come up with something. But still..
But even before the first rumour dies down, a new one has taken over the streets, one that indicates Odhiambo might be moving house to Hot 96 FM.
Through an interview with Plive, the presenter hinted that he might be headed to the Hurligham-based radio station, perhaps because of pay.
“Yeah. Kuna hata lunch huko na samaki,” said Odhiambo when he was asked why he’s moving to Hot 96. “So that’s it men… I will get back to you, am getting into a friend’s office, I will call you.”
Hot 96 is owned by the money-flashing Royal Media Services which poached Jalang’o from Radio Maisha, after he was recently voted the most popular Radio presenter in the country, for a morning gig with renowned journalist Jeff Koinange.
The latter also hosts the highly-rated JKL on its Citizen TV and reportedly makes KSh 2million per month.
