Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has visited a family of a bodyguard attached to his wife Lilian Ng’an’ga, who passed on in a recent road accident.
The Governor and the County First Lady visited the home of Administration Police officer Jacinta Muteti at her Katelembo home in Machakos on Wednesday, June 14, a day after the fatal crash.
Jacinta was one of the four bodyguards who lost their lives when a motorist heading to Nairobi tried to overtake another vehicle before ramming into their car head-on.
The county boss and his wife Lilian were overwhelmed by the sombre mood at the officer’s home causing them to shed tears of pain.
It is being reported that the couple condoled with the family and promised to assist them during this time of need.
Senior county officials and officers from the Administration Police also paid the family a visit and consoled with them for the untimely loss.
Mutua had earlier sent his message of condolence, mourning the demise of the bodyguards who tragically died along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
“I pass my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of officers attached to my office who passed away yesterday at Lukenya area, while heading home after duty.” He said.
The Governor who is defending his seat in the forthcoming elections set for August 8, recalled the last moments he was with some of the bodyguards saying they spent the day together on Monday, June 12 during his trip to Yatta sub-county.
Mutua also revealed that they had just dropped off one of his bodyguards and were on their way to dropping off the other officers before tragedy hit.
