Two Cabinet Secretaries, Henry Rotich (Treasury) and Henry Adan Mohamed (Industrialization) were taken ill and got hospitalised together with other patients over a suspected case of Cholera.
The others are said to be senior government officials who had accompanied the two at an event.
The aforementioned Cabinet Secretaries continue to receive treatment at the Nairobi Hospital where they were rushed after they started complaining of stomach pains and bouts of diarrhoea.
Zipo.co.ke can now confirm that the two were among senior government officials who were admitted in several city hospitals exhibiting Cholera symptoms after attending the event in city.
They were among delegates who graced a Trade Expo at KICC on Monday, July 10, where they helped themselves to food that was provided by the management of KICC. All the the patients have been placed in isolation.
According to a report by NTV on the evening of Friday, July 14, KICC has identified two caterers who had been contracted to provide food for the function and are now blascklisted.
This is happening just a few weeks after another Cholera outbreak happened at Weston Hotel, which is associated with Deputy President William Ruto. Over fourty medics who were attending a workshop fell ill after consuming food at the said function.
Nairobi county government formed a 15-member task force team to investigate the case of Cholera reported at the prestigious hotel to be found on Lang’ata road.
The team that is made up of of health experts and representatives from the county govt, Ministry of Health, Nairobi Water and Sewerage, Kenya Red Cross among others held their maiden meeting on Tuesday, June 27.
The patients received treatment at various hospitals in the city following the outbreak and reports have it that they have all been discharged.
Doctors say CSs Adan and Rotich are out of danger.
