Kenyans speak after NASA demanded Raila be announced President

According to the Opposition, their presidential candidate is leading the tally with 8m.

On Thursday, August 10, the National Super Alliance (NASA) held a press conference where they said their presidential race flagbearer Raila Odinga, won the 2017 General Election held on Tuesday.

In the press conference, the coalition cited what it called a confidential document from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) which indicated that Raila had garnered more than 8 million votes while Uhuru has 7 million.

“We have received further information concerning the results from IEBC that Raila has 8,041,428, votes and Uhuru has 7,755,728 votes.. We demand that IEBC announce the presidential results and announce Raila Odinga the President elect,” said Nasa Campaigns Chair Musalia Mudavadi during the press conference.

Current provisional results being streamed by the commission show that Uhuru Kenyatta is leading the presidential race with 8,164,081 (54.26%) votes vis a vis Raila’s 6,748,021 (44.85%), a difference of more than 1.5 million votes.

Soon after the demands by NASA, Kenyans jumped on Twitter to air their views.
