Barely weeks after one of Kenya’s most popular musicians, Jaguar, was elected to Parliament, he has proved that old habits die hard.
The Starehe Member of Parliament, Charles Njagua Kanyi (Hon.), is still releasing hits even after joining politics. He is back with a new song titled ‘Ndoto,’ an inspirational tune whose sole message is that one can be whatever they wish to be if only they worked hard at it.
Ndoto is Swahili for dreams, and goes to detail his life journey till where he is today. Jaguar is a text book example of a Kenyan rags-to-riches story, what with growing up with difficulties to become on of the wealthiest personas in the country’s entertainment industry.
Over the past years, Jaguar has been a role model and a major inspiration to the Kenyan youth through his empowerment programs under his philanthropic arm – Jaguar Foundation.
President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded his efforts with an appointment at NACADA as a director, a position the singer used to fight the crippling drug menace in the country.
Jaguar worked closely with the newly-elected Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and President Uhuru Kenyatta during campaigns, a move that no doubt boosted his political endeavours, winning in his first attempt at a political seat.
About music, Jaguar said recently that he will not be abandoning the art anytime soon. “I am in this for the long haul. I ain’t quitting.” He noted.
