Kenyan songbird Wahu Kagwi is one beautiful woman and has been around celebville for over two decades now. She started off with hits such as ‘Sitishiki’ (remember the gem?) but has gone on to release other hits such as ‘Liar’, ‘Still a Liar’, ‘Sweet Love’, and ‘Yeye’.
What many people don’t know though is that Wahu is one of the more schooled people in the local music industry.
The singer went to Precious Blood School Riruta, a national school where she fell in love with singing. But she is more than just an old girl of the school because she also wrote the school’s anthem.
It happens that while in PB, she and a friend wrote their first song which they titled ‘Showers of Blessing’, in celebration of the institution’s impressive KCSE performance that year. The piece was made the official school anthem.
After she was done with high school, Wahu joined the University of Nairobi where she pursued a degree in Mathematics and passed with flying colours. By the way that is where she met and fell in love with her husband Nameless who was undertaking Architecture.
During a past interview with Mambo Mseto, the singer revealed that she was a typical liar in her childhood.
“I came from a humble background and when I was little, I could tell lies to protect my image. I attended Hospital Hill primary school; a learning centre which was only a preserve for the rich. While other children were being driven and picked from the facility, I used to walk to and from the institution.” She said perhaps hinting the inspiration behind her hit ‘Liar’.
Wahu who prefers to lead a private life away from the prying eyes of the public, has finally introduced her sister Charity Kagwi on social media. She is beautiful and a carbon copy of her.
“Taking time to appreciate my beautiful powerful sister charity kagwi #sisters❤️ #family #strongwomen,” she captioned the photo below.
