The National Super Alliance (NASA) is gearing up for the fight of its life after the Supreme Court gave it a lifeline by nullifying the October 8 election in which President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner by the IEBC.
But it would seem things are are not rosy in the Wiper party camp, if a video that has gone viral on social media is anything to go by.
Trouble in the party started on Thursday, September 7, when its Secretary General Hassan Omar tendered his resignation saying he will not campaign for the Nasa leader Raila Odinga.
Wiper, it should be noted, is one of the major parties in the coalition and its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka is Raila’s running mate.
A video has emerged on the web showing Kalonzo struggling to contain angry Wiper party members in Ukambani just moments before Raila and his team went visiting.
In the short clip recorded outside Wiper offices, Kalonzo confronts hostile members of his party who wanted to hold protests during Raila’s Saturday visit to Machakos county.
Zipo.co.ke has learnt that the protesters were enraged that Raila’s ODM party, another affiliate of NASA, bulldozing its way and filling candidates in areas reserved for Wiper.
The plan by the protesters was to spoil the party when the National Super Alliance leaders arrived in Machakos county where they planned to hold roadside campaigns.
Kalonzo being the host, arrived early and met the irate members and tried to calm them down, telling them to drop their plans but his pleas fell on deaf ear.
“Huku tunapigana na Jubilee na nyinyi mnatuongezea pressure. Mnataka kuzuia Raila na Mudavadi wakija hapa? (We are fighting with Jubilee and you want to add pressure on us. You want to block Raila and Mudavadi when they visit?). Kalonzo is heard asking.
After Kalonzo fails to contains the crowd, he is seen throwing his hands in the air in defeat and rushed back to the compound.
