Jambo Jet passenger sues after male crew burnt her thigh

A Businesswoman has sued Jambo Jet airline for Sh 214,600 compensation after a flight attendant reportedly “poured hot beverage on her thigh”.

Zipo.co.ke has established that Rebecca Mulongo Wanyonyi sustained serious burn injuries during the incident on August 2016.

The lady wants the local budget airline to take responsibility for its worker whom she alleges, due to his carelessness, poured hot beverage on her right thigh causing her second-degree burns.

According to a civil suit filed at a Nairobi commercial court through her lawyer Daniel Achach, Wanyonyi says that on August 22, 2016, while she was lawfully aboard Jambo Jet from JKIA to Moi International Airport in Mombasa, a male Cabin crew attendant negligently and without due care poured hot tea on her right thigh.

Achach says that his client has been ignored completely despite raising the matter with the airline.

“Despite demand and notice of intention to sue, the defendant has failed, refused and or neglected to admit liability and compensate the plaintiff “, read part of the suit papers.

Wanyonyi wants the court to compel the airline to pay her special damages following the accident.
