A Mombasa court has sentenced ex Jomvu Member of County Assembly Karisa Nzai to a month in civil jail at the Shimo la Tewa prison following failure to pay a Sh1.4 million debt.

According to Chief Magistrate Francis Kyambia, Nzai had failed to obey an order issued by the court to clear an outstanding debt.

The former country rep was nabbed outside the court premises following a warrant of execution of a decree which had earlier been issued by the court on June 6, this year.

Javaco Agencies Ltd had taken the politician to court over the non-payment of Sh1,464,255.

It’s triple blow for Mr Nzai as he lost his bid for the Jomvu parliamentary seat in the August 8 general election as well as a petition challenging the winner Badi Twalib.
