Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze dies at Nairobi Hospital

Kitui West Member of Parliament Francis Nyenze has passed on. The family of the politician who served as Cabinet Minister during the Moi era confirmed the death adding his  body has been moved to Lee Funeral Home from the Nairobi Hospital.

The late legislator was born on June 2, 1957 in Kabati, Kitui West which he presented in Parliament for years. He is a graduate of the University of Nairobi and was the Minority leader in the 12th Parliament.

His health became an issue of concern when he was sworn in to the 13th Parliament with an oxygen tank strapped on his body.

A member of Wiper Democratic Movement Kenya, an affiliate of the Nasa coalition, the MP caused quite a stir when he and former Wiper National Chairman, David Musila, supported Jubilee Party and the re-election of President Kenyatta in the August 8 elections.

Just before Moi was ousted from power, Mr Nyenze was Minister for Heritage and Sports and had served as the Minister for environment in 1997 when he was elected as the MP for Kitui West.

The legislator was also a member of the Public Investments Committee in the last Parliament.

He leaves behind a widow and three children.
