No doubt one of the most celebrated radio presenters in the country, Kalekye Mumo, has called it quits, parting ways with Kiss FM and radio Africa after a successful career that has spanned a decade.
Her decision to quit radio, Tuko reports, follows a huge deal that her PR company signed with Kericho Gold- makers of a wide range of teas ranging from green teas, wellness teas, fruit and herbal infusions among others.
Mumo is said the have been seriously contemplating exiting from the airwaves, after she celebrated her 40th birthday. Word also has it that she had made the announcement to a handful of close friends, family, and affluent city people who graced her occasion at the Vila Rosa Kempinski.
The website also hints at a big secret involving the launch of special range of teas, set to be unveiled very soon. Rumored to be so huge, it was just the right enticement Mumo needed to leave her successful radio job and focus on her business.
Kalekye Mumo is synonymous with KISS FM where she has been co-presenting with renowned bad-boy of Kenyan entertainment, Shaffie Weru, for the last 10 years. Together, they have entertained the masses thanks to their hugely successful evening drive show and lately their even more successful morning show where they replaced Caroline Mutoko. The latter quit her radio gig for a corporate position still at Radio Africa.
But the question that now lingers on many peoples’ minds is who will replace the ‘Big Momma’ as Shaffie jokingly called her? I mean, their chemistry was just out of this world.
2016 has seen Kalekye Mumo achieve quite a lot (or is it lose quite a lot) after she announced during her 40th birthday that she had shed 40 kilos.
According to Ghafla, Mumo said the move was inline with rebranding herself in readiness for the next step of her life – Kalekye the brand and taking her PR firm to the next level.
