Newly-married Nyota Ndogo who is vacationing in Denmark, has caused quite a stir on the web after announcing that she was offered a KSh 16 million gift – one she turned down.
The popular Mombasa-based singer, according to the Star, said that her husband wanted to buy her a sports car worth KSh 16 million but she refused.
The couple reportedly went to an auto bazaar and he liked a specific model that he wanted to gift his Kenyan wife. A car she could use while abroad.
The singer reportedly turned down the gift since they had agreed that her man would settle down in Kenya in a decade’s time.
Her Kenyanism kicked in immediately and she instead asked her husband to put up rental houses in Mombasa with the cash as she has another car in Kenya. Yes, she received a Volkswagen Touran as a wedding from him.
But wait a minute! Something isn’t adding up here. The car she claims to cost Shs 16million is a 2016 Mazda – MAZDA6 i Grand Touring FWD 4-Dr Sedan I4 to be precise, and goes for around KSh 2.3 – 3million. Considering it was meant to stay in the country of purchase, they wouldn’t need to part with the costly Kenyan taxes to ship it in.
For comparisons sake the ‘King of the road’ (read Range Rover) in abroad goes for roughly USD 90,000 (around KShs 9M). Nyota Ndogo must have added an extra zero! OK, that doesn’t make sense.
Nyota Ndogo made national headlines a few months ago when she walked down the aisle in a very colorful Islamic wedding at the Coast. But the poor singer was trolled on other things. Kenyans on Twitter thought her make up was just too much. She however defended herself and shifted blame to poor lighting during the photo shoot.
Ndogo wedded her Danish fiance Henning Nielsen after dating for three years. The two exchanged vows in a ceremony that was held at the ‘Watu na Viatu’ singer’s Voi home on Sunday, May 22, 2016.
She was previously married to Mombasa-based music producer K-Shot with whom she has two children and hopes to get more with her new husband.
