The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has shared details of voter registration saying the master register now has slightly more than 19 million people who are now eligible to vote in the August 8 poll scheduled for August 8.
Also according to the commission, at least half of the registered voters are youth aged between 18-35 years.
The total tally also includes 4,393 voters in five foreign countries and 5,528 registered in 118 Prisons across the country.
The register shows a spike in the number of voters which has increased by a record 36% (5,222,642 voters) since the 2013 elections.
There are also more men than women who will participate in voting according to the numbers released by the commission.
Chairman Wafula Chebukati also revealed that it had completed cleaning up the voter register, expunging 88,602 dead voters from the roll.
In the same breath, IEBC announced that Kenyans will be able to check their registration status just to be sure their details are correct.
The commission has said that both online and SMS methods of checking registration details will be available from Thursday, June 29 and appropriate announcement will be made then.
