They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko ditched his old ways and embraced a more sober one, complete with expensive suits as opposed to his street thuggish look as he eyes the Governor seat.
But it seems that the old untamed Sonko is slowly creeping back as evidenced in his recent remarks.
Sonko is vying in the Nairobi gubernatorial race on a Jubilee ticket and on Friday, July 14, left a crowd shocked after making inflammatory remarks while campaigning at Zimmerman area in Nairobi.
In a video that has been seen by Zipo.co.ke, Mike Sonko who was in the area to seek votes with only 24 days remaining to the General Election, asked a group of excited youths to stone the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders.
Sonko justified the move by citing the recent incident in Kisumu where a charged crowd pelted stones at President Uhuru Kenyatta’s motorcade.
“Mimi ningependa kuwaambia wajipange. Tuko na polisi, tuko na wanajeshi…Tukiwa hapa kwetu tuwapige mawe…mliona wale walitupia Rais mawe kule Kisumu?” Mike Sonko said.
Sonko’s sentiments came just a day after Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s motorcade was stoned in Thika and Githurai with residents saying they were revenging after their leader Uhuru Kenyatta was treated badly in Kisumu.
President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were heckled by rowdy supporters of the Opposition as they commissioned a Shs 17billion EABL brewery in Kisumu on Wednesday, July 12.
