The National Super Alliance has a second chance at knocking out the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta and have 42 days to do so. The Raila Odinga-led coalition is looking to have a lean but efficient team running a better organised and oiled campaign.
Those whose future in Nasa seem bleek is Wanjigi and campaign secretariat chief Willis Otieno as the Opposition picks it self up in readiness for an intense forthcoming campaigns.
It is said the decision to give Wanjigi the boot was arrived at this past weekend in Kilaguni, Taita Taveta, where Raila and fellow Nasa principals retreated to plot their campaign, create new structures and start fundraising.
Today (Tuesday, September 5), Nasa will take their vote-hunting to Western Kenya.
It is reported that Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) told Raila they did not want Wanjigi because “he did not help NASA as expected and instead caused the team problems,” the Star quoted a Nasa insider.
“The principals were clear in their assessment that Wanjigi had promised so much and delivered almost nothing to the campaign,” the source familiar with the weekend meeting’s said. Wanjigi had not officially been informed.
The infamous businessman had reportedly promised to pay for a tallying center, poll agents and the production of media advertisements, among other things, before the August 8 General Election. He didn’t.
