JKIA no go zone as Raila Odinga supporters clash with police 

Police in anti-riot gear were forced to use tear gas to disperse supporters of the National Super Alliance who were marching on Mombasa Road ahead of Raila Odinga’s grand homecoming.

Leaders from the Opposition side mobilised their supporters to the airport on the morning of Friday, November 17 to welcome their leader who has been on a 10-day visit to the US.

 

There was heavy police presence along Mombasa road an around Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where the Opposition leader and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka landed soon.

Earlier, at around 10am, heavily-armed police officers blocked some Nasa leaders from entering the airport. The leaders were in the company of a crowd that was chanting anti-Jubilee slogans.

Several vehicles were destroyed and a few motorists were injured during the chaos on Mombasa Road.

 

A police officer sustained injuries during the melee after he was hit by a stone hurled by a Nasa supporter.
