Trade unionist Wilson Sossion has said he will not resign from his Knut post following a gazette notice ordering him and other State MPs to vacate their jobs.
According to him, the Kenya Nations Union of Teachers does not belong to the government to received instructions.
Yesterday, Wednesday the 13th, Labour Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie listed the ODM nominated MP among ten others in a notice to vacate immediately.
His Kuppet counterpart, Omboko Milemba, was also asked to leave the chairmanship after winning the Emuhaya MP seat in the August 8 general election.
“This notification to vacate office applies to all trade union officials holding either nominated or elective positions in any county assembly or Parliament,” Kandie ordered.
Noting the move was political, Sossion who is in Mombasa for Knut’s 60th Annual Delegates Conference, said he will not succumb to the government’s intimidation.
“I’m not relinquishing my position. I should go where? I’m here to stay” the vocal SG said as quoted in the Star.
National acting chairman Wycliff Omucheyi echoed the sentiments by Sossion saying teachers will remain united and terming the notice as machinations of authority.
Ms Kandie cited Article 77 of the constitution which restricts full time state officers from holding alternative positions of gainful employment.
