The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has intensified its efforts to combat illegal offshore gambling websites, taking action against five more operators found to be in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. The newly blocked websites include Viperspin, Just Casino, Betandplay, Play Fina, and Comic Play Casino.
Since the ACMA initiated its initial blocking requests, a total of 835 illicit gambling and affiliate websites have been barred from access in Australia. Additionally, 215 unlawful services have voluntarily exited the Australian market since the ACMA began enforcing stricter regulations for illegal offshore gambling in 2017.
The ACMA’s approach includes website blocking as one of several enforcement mechanisms aimed at safeguarding Australians from the perils of illegal online gambling.
