Kenyan international and Harambee Stars midfielder, Clarke Oduor, could only watch helplessly as Bradford City suffered an FA Cup exit at the hands of Wycombe Wanderers. Oduor remained an unused substitute as his team faced defeat in the First Round of the FA Cup on home turf.
Wycombe asserted their dominance over their League Two counterparts with two first-half goals, although Bradford City showed determination in the second half, making Matt Bloomfield’s side work hard for their victory.
Wycombe opened the scoring in the 19th minute when David Wheeler nodded down Ryan Tafazolli’s deep cross, allowing Killian Phillips to seize the opportunity and slot the ball past Harry Lewis from 12 yards.
The lead doubled for Wycombe in the 35th minute when Freddie Potts dispossessed Emmanuel Osadebe near the Bradford penalty area, leading to home defender Sam Stubbs inadvertently heading the cross into his own net.
Bradford, who are currently without a manager, displayed a more potent attacking threat in the second half. Max Stryjek denied Jamie Walker’s shot with a crucial save and then produced a remarkable reflex save to keep out a header from Andy Cook.
Walker pulled one back for Bradford on 64 minutes, setting the stage for a tense finish as Bradford pressed hard for an equalizer.
The result further compounds the woes of Oduor and his teammates, who have been without a manager since the dismissal of their head coach and former Manchester United legend, Mark Hughes. Hughes managed just three wins out of 11 League Two games this season before being sacked in October, leaving Bradford in 18th place.
Bradford City has now gone four games without a win. Oduor, who joined the club in May, has made 13 appearances, providing two assists but yet to find the back of the net.
