Erick Kapaito has had an impressive debut season with Tusker FC, scoring 12 goals and registering 8 assists, accumulating a total of 20 goal contributions as they head into their final match against Kakamega Homeboyz.
Despite a slow start, Kapaito found his form, scoring his first two goals for Tusker last December and maintaining his momentum throughout the season.
Kapaito, who has seamlessly adapted to Tusker’s new playing style during their transitional phase, has been a key player in their campaign. Tusker has been rebuilding after narrowly missing out on a league and cup double last season. Reflecting on his performance after their 2-1 victory over Posta Rangers in Thika, the former Kariobangi Sharks forward discussed his experience during a season filled with highs and lows.
“It has been good. I know I can certainly do much better and score more goals, but the contribution has been great,” Kapaito shared with the club’s media channels.
“We have been performing well but did not win the league. We finished second, which is not bad, but we can do better. I, however, pushed as well as I could.”
With Tusker already securing a second-place finish, they are set to face Kakamega Homeboyz in Ruaraka for their last game of the season, marking their first match there since last November.
Kapaito has urged his teammates to remain focused and aim for a strong finish.
“We have to push well so we can finish on a high. They also want to win. I know it is not going to be easy, but it is possible,” Kapaito concluded.
