Exciting Junior Starlets Wonderkid Marion Serenge Reveals Ambitions for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

Junior Starlets wonderkid Marion Serenge has set her sights high ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. As Kenya gears up to make its presence felt on the global stage, Serenge believes her team has what it takes to reach the semifinals of the prestigious tournament, scheduled to take place from October 16 to November 3 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Serenge, a highly talented forward, sees the World Cup as not only a platform to showcase her skills but also as a stepping stone toward her long-term goal of securing a contract with a European club. “It’s a great opportunity for me to land a club in Europe, which has been my dream. Many scouts will be watching us play, and I will give it my all,” she told Citizen TV in an interview.

While she has her personal career ambitions, Serenge remains firmly focused on the success of her team. Confident in the abilities of her fellow Junior Starlets, she shared their collective goals for the tournament. “As a team, we are very focused, and we are aiming to reach the semifinals,” she stated. The belief within the squad is strong, and Serenge is determined to contribute to her team’s success.

Her father, Fred Serenge, who has supported her throughout her journey as both a parent and coach, shares in her optimism. He takes pride in her accomplishments and has high hopes for her future. “This is a big inspiration to me as a parent and coach. I believe my daughter will perform wonderfully in the Dominican Republic and secure a club in Europe. Seeing her go professional would be a great boost to her career,” he expressed.

The Junior Starlets are in the final stages of preparation for the World Cup, currently undergoing a pre-tournament training camp in Alicante, Spain. As part of their preparations, the team has scheduled several key friendly matches to sharpen their tactics and improve their match fitness.

They will face Valencia CF Women on September 25, followed by games against Portugal on September 27 and Intercity on September 30. These friendlies are crucial as the Junior Starlets prepare for their first group-stage match on October 18 against a strong England side. They will also take on Korea DPR on October 20, before completing their group-stage fixtures against Mexico on October 24.

Kenya’s journey to the World Cup has been nothing short of remarkable, with the Junior Starlets securing qualification in dominant fashion. They earned their spot with a resounding 5-0 aggregate victory over Burundi in the final qualification round, a performance that has raised expectations for their World Cup campaign.

As Kenya embarks on their World Cup adventure, all eyes will be on Marion Serenge and the Junior Starlets, who are poised to defy the odds and make history on the global stage.
