Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKinstry has shared his admiration for the club’s unwavering fans for their commitment and loyalty over the years. He commended the Gor Mahia supporters for their steadfast support towards the team.
K’Ogalo fans have consistently been a significant presence at their team’s matches, playing a crucial role in their successes over time, with this season being no exception. Regardless of the venue—be it Nairobi, Machakos, Homa Bay, or any other part of the country—the Green Army steadfastly supports them, and their encouragement has helped the team achieve positive results, establishing them once more as the top contenders in the FKF Premier League this season.
McKinstry has been impressed by this sense of community and has encouraged the fans to continue their support as the players strive to defend their league title and aim for a record 21st championship. “Some of these fans were in Ukunda last week, and it’s not easy. They travel across the country,” McKinstry noted.
“It’s not cheap to attend games; you have to cover your transport, feed yourself for the day, and purchase a ticket to enter the stadium, not to mention all the merchandise these fans buy. We deeply respect their loyal dedication and obsession because Gor Mahia is a family. The final image shown to the players during the pre-match team meeting is always of the anthem being sung, showcasing both players and fans together, emphasizing that we are all in this together. If we energize the field, the fans will energize the stands, and it just builds from there.
“With both of us working together, we’ve had games in the past where we’ve drawn energy from both the players and the fans. I don’t think there’s any team in East Africa that can withstand such a force.”
McKinstry made these comments after a large turnout of K’Ogalo faithful in Machakos to support the team during last Saturday’s league match against Posta Rangers, which the defending champions won 4-0.
The coach is looking forward to seeing similar support when his team travels to Mombasa to face Bandari this weekend in what promises to be a challenging match, as the second-placed Dockers are among the few teams that still have a slight chance of claiming the title.
