Harambee Stars forward Masoud Juma has made a promising return to training after undergoing surgery, showing significant progress from the severe Achilles tendon injury he sustained in January.
Juma, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Jabalain, was spotted working out at a gym in Nairobi, as seen in videos he shared on his Instagram page. This marks an encouraging step in his recovery journey following the injury that occurred at the end of January during a match, which required surgical intervention and led to weeks of downtime.
Before the injury, Juma had been in excellent form, scoring in his last three appearances for the Harambee Stars against Russia, Gabon, and Seychelles. In April, Juma provided an inspiring update on his recovery via Instagram, celebrating a major milestone.
“It’s a special day for me as I walk again 60 days after my surgery. The journey has now begun. It’s a tough one, but I am sure I will be up to it. Thank you all for prayers and support. I am humbled,” Juma wrote.
At 27, Juma has had a distinguished career, representing Kenya internationally and playing for various clubs in the FKF Premier League. His standout domestic performance came with Kariobangi Sharks during the 2017 season, where he was the league’s top scorer with 24 goals.
Juma’s talent attracted attention from international clubs, leading to stints with Libyan side Al-Nasr Benghazi and Algerian club JS Kabylie before moving to the Arabian Peninsula.
His international career has been equally impressive. Juma made his senior debut for Kenya in June 2017 against Sierra Leone in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match and was part of the national team at AFCON 2019.
Before his time in the Middle East, Juma also played in South Africa for Cape Town City, where he was coached by Benni McCarthy.
