Despite having scored a goal and provided three assists in various competitions since his arrival, Clarke Oduor, a graduate from the Leeds United academy, finds himself in an uncertain situation at Bradford City. He remained on the bench for the fourth consecutive match, even as the Bantams secured a rare victory against Accrington Stanley last Saturday under their new manager, Graham Alexander.
The match at Valley Parade saw Tyler Smith netting an impressive goal in the second half, marking his sixth goal in six games. The first half of the game was rather uneventful, with both teams struggling to create notable chances.
Accrington’s best opportunity came in the 16th minute when Korede Adedoyin broke through the defense but had his shot blocked by Harry Lewis at the near post. Bradford did manage to find themselves in promising positions during the game, but they failed to seriously threaten Accrington’s goal.
One notable missed chance came when Jamie Walker couldn’t find the target after Andy Cook chested down a long pass from Ciaran Kelly. Additionally, center-back Ash Taylor should have done better with his header from Richie Smallwood’s free-kick early in the second half.
Bradford eventually broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Kelly’s precise long pass found Smith, who calmly chipped the ball over the goalkeeper, Jon McCracken, after a clever dummy by Andy Cook.
For Clarke Oduor, questions about his future with the club persist. Despite his contribution of one goal and three assists in various competitions, the talented Leeds United academy graduate has found himself on the sidelines more often since the departure of Mark Hughes.
