The Leopards had a sluggish start to the season but have gained momentum with victories since mid-December. AFC Leopards’ rapidly emerging winger, Hassan Beja, has shed light on why the club took some time to achieve consistently positive results during the first half of the season. Lately, the Leopards have been unstoppable, remaining unbeaten in their last five matches, including four consecutive victories. Beja has played a pivotal role in this successful streak, netting a goal and providing an assist while also introducing a new dynamic to the team with his speed. In an exclusive interview following their 2-0 victory over Kariobangi Sharks, where he was awarded man of the match, Beja discussed the initial challenges his team faced and how they started to gain traction with the match against Kakamega Homeboyz in December. “We faced difficulties at the start of the season due to the high number of new players adjusting to the club,” Beja conveyed to Pulse Sports. He expressed his gratitude towards the training, management, coaching staff for their confidence, and the original team members for aiding the newcomers in settling in. When questioned about his predictions for the Leopards’ season finale, Beja chose to remain cautious. “It’s too early to say because we are approaching each game with the aim to win. Other teams are also making their moves. We will accept whatever position we find ourselves in at the season’s end.” The former Nzoia Sugar winger also shared his long-term ambitions with the team, maintaining a hopeful outlook for next season’s prospects. “My goal is to win the league, though we didn’t start off on the right foot. I’m optimistic that next season will be significantly better. We’ll aim to kick off from there and see if we can achieve that goal.” As AFC Leopards continue their pursuit of matching their potential, Beja is quickly proving his worth to the team. The hope is that he will maintain his performance level, especially after being named player of the week.
