Kenyan forward Marjolene Nekesa made a brief appearance in Slavia Prague’s goalless match in the UEFA Women’s Champions League against St. Polten on Wednesday.
Nekesa, previously a starter for Slavia Prague, was on the bench at the start following her participation in their previous Champions League game, a 1-0 defeat to Brann Women.
The match saw Slavia Prague dominate early, with Tereza Krejčiříková challenging the goalkeeper and Michaela Khýrová narrowly missing a follow-up shot. Despite multiple opportunities, Slavia Prague struggled to capitalize, including a 23rd-minute close call from Krejčiříková.
St. Polten’s best chance came in the 36th minute when Melanie Brunnthaler’s shot hit the post, and her subsequent attempt was blocked. Early in the second half, Brunnthaler missed another opportunity to score.
As the match neared its end with few significant opportunities, Slavia coach Kiral Piták introduced Nekesa in place of Karolina Křivská with only two minutes remaining. Nekesa’s limited time on the field wasn’t enough to impact the game significantly, leading to a draw and the first points for both teams in Group B.
