Zdravko Logarusic sees Kenya as an untapped football powerhouse that requires awakening

Logarusic Envisions Unleashing Kenya’s Football Potential

Zdravko Logarusic, the head coach of Kenya Police FC, sees untapped potential in Kenyan football, describing the country as a “sleeping giant” waiting to be awakened. His optimism grew after Kenya Police secured a 2-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars in front of a substantial crowd at the Police Sacco Stadium.

During the match, Francis Kahata and Abud Omar delivered two outstanding goals, propelling Kenya Police into the top half of the league table with 14 points, just eight points behind the league leaders, Posta Rangers.

In a post-match statement, Logarusic praised his team’s dedication and hard work in securing the three points. He acknowledged the challenge posed by Ulinzi Stars, saying, “Ulinzi gave us a hard time. We tried our best in the moment. We were not lucky. I think we put in a lot of effort inside. I think we had a good second half because we put in a good effort.”

Logarusic explained the tactical adjustments made during the second half, emphasizing the importance of strategic changes. He noted, “In the second half, we changed some positions in the team and we changed the system. We put a speedy player in front of Tyson (Otieno) and then secured the midfield a little more with (Kenneth) Muguna. We made some moves, and those moves paid off.”

The coach also expressed his appreciation for the enthusiastic fans who attended the match at the Police Sacco Stadium. He believes that Kenya possesses significant untapped football potential that can be harnessed both at the club and national team levels. He stated, “The fans were thrilled today. They were happy with how we approached the game. That is what we need. I saw a lot of fans, and that is what we need to do. Today, some players showed individual brilliance. That is what I saw. I always say that Kenya is a sleeping giant. We have to wake up the Kenya national team and Kenyan football, and everything will be okay.”

With their recent success, Kenya Police’s aspirations of winning the league title appear more achievable, especially if they can maintain their momentum during the international break while their title rivals falter.
