Olunga Extends Congratulations to Harambee Stars Teammate Duke Abuya for Award Win in Tanzania

Harambee Stars midfielder, Duke Abuya, has been inundated with congratulatory messages following his recent accolade as the Singida Fountain Gate Player of the Month for October. Among those extending their congratulations is Harambee Stars captain, Michael Olunga.

Abuya earned this recognition for his exceptional contributions throughout October in all five matches played by Singida. His achievements included being the most disciplined player, his crucial assists, and his participation in 85 percent of all the games.

In October, Singida faced several tough opponents. They began with a challenging match against Future FC of Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup, which they lost 4-1 on October 1st. However, they swiftly rebounded with a 1-0 victory over Mtibwa Sugar FC in a Tanzania Premier League match on October 5th, with Abuya’s fellow Kenyan, Elvis Rupia, scoring the solitary goal.

Despite facing a setback with a 2-1 defeat to Simba SC just three days later, Singida bounced back once again by defeating Namungo FC 3-2 on October 21st. Abuya himself scored the opening goal in that match. The month concluded with a 2-0 defeat to the reigning champions, Yanga, six days later.

Singida’s spokesman, Hussein Massanza, explained the selection process for the Player of the Month award. He mentioned that the technical bench evaluates various aspects of the player’s performance during the specified period.

Abuya expressed his gratitude for receiving the award, especially since it comes just three months after his transfer to Singida from Kenya Police in July. He took to social media to thank the entire Singida Fountain Gate community.

Abuya’s teammates from the Harambee Stars, led by Michael Olunga, also congratulated him on this achievement. Olunga praised Abuya with a simple “Well done, Abuya,” while Masoud Juma encouraged him to “keep winning.”

For his outstanding performance, Abuya received a prize of Tsh1 million (approximately Ksh60,865) from Jet & Sons Limited, a prominent construction company in Tanzania and one of the club’s sponsors.
