Odada is confident that the matches played in 2023 have set the stage for a successful year ahead.
Kenyan midfielder Richard Odada is optimistic about the country’s prospects in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, set to unfold in 2024.
Odada credits the matches played in 2023, including friendlies against teams such as Iran, Qatar, and Russia, as crucial for rebuilding and preparing for the challenges of this year.
Speaking to NTV, Odada reflected on the experience: “I feel like it was more about building, and we faced good challenges, playing against teams like Russia and Qatar.”
In their match against Russia, Kenya secured a 2-2 draw, with a late equalizer by Ivan Oblyakov at the 89th minute, dashing Kenya’s hopes for a win.
Odada expressed some disappointment at not clinching a victory against Russia, despite the team’s close performance. “Russia was a tough game against a top team. We gave our best and were close to winning, but unfortunately, we didn’t.”
However, he remains positive about the team’s direction and determination. “We had a very good build-up, and now we know what we aim for as a team. We will fight for our goals until we achieve them.”
Currently on a mid-season break in Kenya, Odada will soon return to Denmark to rejoin AaB, with the team pushing for promotion to the Danish Superliga.
