Shabana coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has expressed how the support from Tore Bobe fans has been crucial in helping him manage the team during a challenging period at the club.
Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo acknowledged the vital role the club’s supporters have played since he took charge. Omollo joined Shabana in January during a turbulent phase, with hopes pinned on him for a quick turnaround, given his previous roles at Tusker FC, Posta Rangers, and Kenya Police.
His tenure began with promise, marked by a 5-2 victory over Nzoia Sugar. However, difficulties persisted as the team went through eight consecutive games without a win until they recently defeated his former team, Posta Rangers, 3-0, breaking their losing streak. Despite this win, Shabana remains second from bottom in the league standings with 21 points, trailing Muhoroni Youth by four points with nine matches left. Yet, Omollo remains optimistic about avoiding relegation, crediting the steadfast support from demanding fans and the team.
“I am happy with our fans because they have shown great patience, which has been crucial as we build the team,” Omollo told Pulse Sports.
“The support is consistent. Whether we win or lose, our fans stand by us, which has greatly strengthened me,” he continued.
Omollo praised both the fans and the management for their patience, which has allowed him to implement his strategies without pressure for immediate results. He believes the groundwork laid will soon start showing benefits.
“They have never pressured me, even when we don’t win. They calmly accept the style of football we play,” he added.
“Management’s patience is also important because they understand our strategy, making it easier for me. The goal is to survive this season and then build a strong team for the next.”
Omollo is preparing his team for the next crucial match against Muhoroni Youth this weekend. This game is essential for moving closer to the relegation-promotion playoff spot. Although Muhoroni has also been improving, Omollo expects a tough match, one that Shabana fans hope to win, further solidifying their support for their coach.
