Shabana’s Battle to Avoid Relegation Takes Center Stage as FKF Premier League Resumes After Three Weeks

Tore Bobe faces a critical relegation battle against AFC Leopards as the FKF Premier League resumes following the international break. Shabana and their fight to stay in the top-tier league will be in the spotlight this weekend as the league picks up after a three-week hiatus.

The Glamour Boys, who made a comeback to the top flight this season after a 17-year absence, are struggling to maintain their status in the league, having spent much of the second leg in the lower ranks of the table.

Coached by Sammy Omollo, the team is in a precarious position, sitting 16th in the standings with 29 points and only three matches left in the season. The Kisii-based team is currently in the relegation playoff spot, just one point ahead of Muhoroni Youth, who are also set to compete this weekend.

Shabana is scheduled to take on AFC Leopards, who are aiming for a top-five finish in the league, on Saturday afternoon at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.

Muhoroni Youth with 28 points, FC Talanta with 31 points, and Sofapaka with 33 points are other teams at risk of relegation if they lose more points at this crucial juncture of the league. According to the FKF Premier League relegation system, the bottom two teams face automatic relegation, while the team in 16th place goes into a playoff against the third-ranked team from the National Super League.

Besides Shabana’s pivotal match, other key games on Saturday include Tusker hosting Bandari at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Tusker, currently second in the standings, aims to clinch maximum points to hold onto their spot, while Bandari seeks to cause an upset and boost their rank. Nairobi City Stars, having a mixed season, will try to end on a high starting with their game against Kakamega Homeboyz, who are looking to secure their mid-table status.

KCB will go up against Posta Rangers at Police Sacco Stadium in another compelling match.

Both teams are determined to end the season strongly, with KCB targeting a top-half finish and Posta Rangers looking to avoid slipping further down the table. Bidco United will face Kariobangi Sharks at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos in a game that promises to be thrilling as both teams vie for crucial points in their respective campaigns.
