Shariff Musa, the new signing of Gor Mahia, has expressed his ambitions with the club after declining offers from Bandari and Kenya Police to join the record Kenyan champions. Musa aims to help Gor Mahia continue their success streak following his transfer from Bidco United.
Musa was officially introduced at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Saturday, just before Gor Mahia secured a 1-0 victory against Tusker FC in a crucial FKF Premier League match. In this game, he made his debut, coming in as a substitute in the 83rd minute.
The winger, having moved to Gor from Bidco United, will be sporting the number 19 jersey and is eager to start. “I am very ready and here to win,” Musa said enthusiastically during his presentation.
Musa’s addition to the team is expected to strengthen Gor Mahia’s offense as they aim to continue their winning form and defend their title. His arrival is also set to heighten the competition among the club’s forwards.
Choosing Gor Mahia over Bandari FC and Kenya Police, the young player’s decision came after his impressive performance at Bidco United. Musa’s tenure at Bidco, which he joined from Kariobangi Sharks at the beginning of this season, lasted less than six months. The three top clubs showed interest in him, but Gor Mahia won the bid.
Reports suggest that Gor Mahia outdid their competitors by offering Musa a larger signing-on fee. While Bandari reportedly proposed a signing-on fee of Ksh500,000 plus a monthly salary of Ksh120,000, Musa opted for Gor Mahia’s offer of a Ksh1 million signing-on fee.
Musa, known for his exceptional speed and agility, first gained recognition at Soy United. His remarkable talents then attracted the attention of Kariobangi Sharks, leading to his signing in 2022. Before his high-profile move to Gor Mahia, Musa had scored three goals for Bidco United in the current season.
