Batoto ba Mungu’s Fate in Their Own Hands with Slim Advantage Giving Naivas FC Hope of Premier League Promotion
Sofapaka will aim to seal the deal as they face Naivas FC in the second leg of the FKF Premier League promotion-relegation playoff on Sunday.
Batoto ba Mungu holds a narrow 1-0 lead from the first leg, thanks to Jacob Onyango’s decisive goal. They need just a draw to retain their top-flight status.
However, it won’t be a walk in the park against Naivas, who created several chances but couldn’t convert them. Naivas coach Collins ‘Korea’ Omondi has vowed to correct those mistakes, and Sofapaka must be at their best to secure a favorable outcome.
“To be honest, we created chances but did not score. We were also carried away in many moments. In situations where we should have taken shots, we kept on passing. We tried to be too pretty,” said Omondi.
“We have to find a way to become more efficient in training. The main problem has been failing to score goals. Creating chances but failing to score is worrying. It’s been an issue for over seven games now.”
Sofapaka will be the home team for the return leg at Dandora Stadium and can rely on their Premier League experience to see them through.
The 2009 Premier League champions had a challenging season in the top flight, narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day.
Their fate now lies in their own hands; they must avoid defeat to maintain their 15-year stay in the top flight or face relegation.
