The Statistics That Should Concern Gor Mahia Before Their Crucial Encounter with Tusker

Gor Mahia and Tusker are set to clash in the FKF Premier League this weekend, and recent statistics suggest that K’Ogalo has reasons to be concerned while trying to maintain their unbeaten streak.

Gor Mahia and Tusker FC are gearing up for another showdown in the FKF Premier League this weekend, with K’Ogalo hosting the Brewers. Unlike their encounter in October, both teams are now among the top three in form in the league. Gor Mahia remains undefeated this season, while Tusker has not lost in their last eight matches, including five consecutive wins.

K’Ogalo has been resilient, clinching late victories, while Tusker has been dominating, easily overcoming opponents. This scenario is a sharp contrast to their last meeting in October when Tusker was struggling, and coach Robert Matano’s position was uncertain after only two wins in their first six season games. Their struggles persisted until November.

Back then, Gor Mahia had a significant lead over Tusker, but going into this weekend’s match, the gap has narrowed to nine points, and a win for Tusker could reduce it further to six. This scenario could set the stage for another thrilling title race, similar to last season when Gor clinched the championship by a mere point on the final day. Recent statistics suggest that Tusker, who have won three out of their last eight encounters against Gor, with two draws and two losses, might have the upper hand in this crucial match.

Tusker seems to have a favorable chance against a Gor side that has been scraping through with narrow one-goal margins in their last three games. The previous victory for Gor over Tusker was a contentious 1-0 win in October, marked by controversy over Benson Omala’s goal, which seemed offside. Their title race last May ended in a goalless draw, following Gor’s 2-1 win in the first leg in February.

That victory was Gor Mahia’s first against Tusker after five unsuccessful attempts, during which Tusker won three times and two matches ended in draws. It’s notable that in these eight games, Gor Mahia only managed to score more than once in a single match, which could be encouraging for Matano, given that his forwards are now performing well.

Both Gor Mahia and Tusker have typically adopted a cautious approach in their recent matchups. However, this weekend’s game is anticipated to be different, especially for Tusker, who are eager to redeem themselves from October’s defeat and intensify their title pursuit.
