Tusker FC’s midfielder, Collins ‘Kante’ Otieno, has shared his reflections on his outstanding full debut, setting his sights on success in the upcoming match against Bidco at SportPesa Arena.
The 19-year-old, nicknamed ‘Kante’ due to his resemblance to the former Chelsea midfield star, advanced from the youth squad to the senior team in September 2022. Otieno, known for his exceptional talent and dedication, spoke openly as Tusker FC gears up for their next game following a tough 0-0 draw with Posta Rangers last Sunday.
“I believe I played well, based on my performance. Recently, I’ve been entering games in the second half, and I think I’ve been doing well,” he said, highlighting his increasing self-assurance on the field.
“The internal competition has really driven me to put in more effort to play the full 90 minutes. It’s challenging to secure a spot in our skilled midfield,” Otieno added, emphasizing the intense rivalry within the team.
The game between Tusker FC and Posta Rangers at Tusker’s home venue, the Ruaraka Grounds, ended in a disappointing draw.
Otieno is optimistic about Tusker FC’s chances in their next game against Bidco United at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a, scheduled for Wednesday.
“We’ve prepared well as a team, and I’m confident that if we play to our strengths, we’ll emerge victorious,” he stated.
The rescheduled match against Bidco, initially set for November 29, will now take place on December 13, having been postponed due to venue issues.
Initially planned for the Kasarani Annex on a Saturday, the game’s cancellation has left both teams eager to demonstrate their capabilities.
Currently, under coach Robert Matano, Tusker FC holds the 12th spot in the league with 16 points from 14 games, while Bidco is in the tenth position, leading Tusker FC by four points.
