Trucha has disclosed when January acquisition Kennedy Owino is poised to debut for Ingwe, while also highlighting the attributes he will contribute to the squad. Tomas Trucha, the head coach of AFC Leopards, has outlined the skills Kennedy Owino will bring to the team following his transfer from Posta Rangers last week.
Owino was a substitute in the match against Kariobangi Sharks and did not participate, as Ingwe secured a 2-0 victory, marking their fifth win in six games.
Nonetheless, defender Randy Bakari received a red card just before the conclusion of the match, forcing Leopards to finish the game with 10 players. Trucha has now clarified why the prominent defender, who is considered one of the top defenders in the league this season, did not play against Sharks.
“Look, I intended for him to play, but he had only been with us for a very short period, and registration was completed just in the nick of time. So, the red card to Randy means he will be prepared for our next game (against Murang’a Seal),” Trucha stated.
The Czech coach disclosed the reasons for acquiring him from Posta Rangers, emphasizing the attributes he will introduce at the Den.
“Experience, leadership, he commands presence, he is highly skilled, and is one of the best defenders in the country,” Trucha remarked. Trucha has lauded the management for successfully recruiting him and Rwandan newcomer Arthur Gitego to the club.
“I’m grateful to the management for facilitating the arrivals of Ken and Arthur (Gitego) along with the other young talents. That’s what I’m expecting from him.
“With Randi’s red card, I’m relieved we have Kennedy available; otherwise, we’d be in a difficult position. Now, I have options and can include Kennedy in the (next) game.”
