Following unsettling events at matches against AFC Leopards and Tusker FC, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) expressed its worries, highlighting security reports of Shabana supporters partaking in actions “both dangerous and disruptive to the game.”
“We would like to remind you that your fans’ actions reflect on both the club and the league at large. It is the club management’s duty to ensure fans behave in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner. We strongly encourage you to address this issue promptly and prevent its recurrence,” a portion of the statement read. Despite these assurances and a coaching change, with Sammy Omollo replacing Sammy Okoth, an improvement in fan conduct is still awaited. Four months later, a loss to Kenya Police FC resulted in violent outbursts from disgruntled fans, necessitating police intervention.
