Ssemwanga’s cousin apologises to Diamond over Zari drama

This past Monday, on June 11, in the afternoon, social users were treated to a free movie (or is it soap), after popular Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz took to social media with claims that his wife Zari Hassan was cheating on him.

This happened after a photo of Zari and Edwin Lutaaya, her late husband and business tycoon Ivan ‘Don’ Ssemwanga’s cousin having a nice time inside a pool went viral.

Diamond, perhaps not thinking straight, jumped to conclusions too quickly.

“Ndio maana wakati mwingine naonaga bora tu nile na kusepa…. Maana hawathaminikagi wala kuaminika hawa….??” [Sometimes I prefer hitting and running – no strings attached, for it’s hard to trust a woman.]

The social media went amok with Diamond’s fans trolling Zari.

Turns out Zari who was in South Africa and her hubby Diamond was in TZ at the time, was with her kids just having some good time. She was in the company of Edwin and his wife and their children. They were all just hanging out and having a great time when the photo in question was taken.

Zari used the same social media to hit back at the haters on Instagram. She said:

“Photo credit was by his wife. He is my kids uncle, the lates’ cousin and i happened to meet them at a spa. When you are that it loyal gal, someone will always find fault when it’s not there just to cover and turn around stories of all the dirty they do behind you back.”

Diamond later joined Zari in South Africa and the two pulled down the posts, even as fans continue to speculate that it was a publicity stunt?

The ‘Utanipenda’ singer then took to social media to tell off critics and gossips by posting a video while also attacking them.

Now, Edwin Lutaaya, the man at he centre of all the drama, one who was crucified for taking pics with Zari, has finally spoken. He has sent his apologies to Diamond Platnumz and his family at large for what happened.

Speaking to Kakensa Media, Lutaaya, a musician, made it clear that he didn’t touch Zari’s behind as it seems to appear on the pic that went viral. He said he is not interested in her. That he is married.

“This goes out to Diamond, I know you can’t hear much of Luganda… I never meant to offend you neither did I touch Zari’s bums, you misquoted the whole situation. That picture was taken with decency, we never even took any [photos] closer to each other. Deep down in my heart I don’t have any intentions of hitting or proposing to my in-law (Zari), in our custom it doesn’t allow that. And I want to make it very clear this, this moment… please I respect your family and I respect your relationship with Zari. I can never come in between us or anyone in our family, I will never come between you,” he said.

Well, you heard it from the horse’s mouth.
